The Ordinary Serum Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is indicated to reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion. The high concentration of this vitamin at 10% in the formula is supported by the zinc salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid to balance the visible aspects of sebum activity.
Contraindications: If topical vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid and/or L-ascorbic acid) is used as part of skin care, it should be used at alternate times with this formulation (ideally vitamin C in the PM and this formulation in the AM). Otherwise, niacinamide can affect the safety of vitamin C.
Notes: While Niacinamide and Zinc PCA reduce the appearance of blemishes and balance visible sebum activity, they are not a cure for acne. For persistent acne-related conditions, we recommend benzoyl peroxide and/or retinoic acid. DECIEM does not recommend the continued use of BHA such as salicylic acid for persistent blemishes. To temporarily improve the appearance of spots, salicylic acid helps. This formulation can be used in conjunction with acne treatments if desired to maximize visible skin benefits.
Independent studies show that niacinamide is also an effective skin lightening ingredient.
